Abs

Cable Crunch

Beginner Cable Isolation Abs

How to do it

  1. Attach a rope to the high pulley and kneel facing the machine.

  2. Hold both rope ends beside your head and lock your hands there.

  3. Sit back slightly until the cable is taut and your hips are stable.

  4. Exhale as you curl your spine down toward your thighs.

  5. Squeeze the abs at the bottom, then return slowly without fully unrolling.

Common mistakes

  • Pulling with the arms and shoulders instead of curling the spine.

  • Hinging at the hips like a bow instead of crunching.

  • Going so heavy the stack drags you upright.

Tips

  • Picture rolling up a carpet, one vertebra at a time.

  • One of the best ab moves because you can progressively load it.
