Dumbbell Side Bend

Beginner Dumbbell Isolation Obliques

How to do it

  1. Stand tall holding ONE dumbbell in one hand, the other hand on your hip.

  2. Bend sideways toward the dumbbell as far as is comfortable.

  3. Contract the obliques on the opposite side to return upright.

  4. Finish your reps, then switch hands.

Common mistakes

  • Holding dumbbells in both hands — the loads cancel each other out.

  • Leaning forward or twisting.

Tips

  • Slow, full-range reps beat heavy weight.

  • Log the weight of the dumbbell you hold.
