Lying Leg Raise

Beginner Bodyweight Isolation Abs

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back on a mat or bench with hands by your sides or under your hips.

  2. Keep your legs straight and together.

  3. Raise your legs until they are vertical while keeping your lower back down.

  4. Lower slowly without touching the floor.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the lower back arch off the floor as the legs come down.

  • Dropping the legs quickly.

Tips

  • Bend your knees if your lower back cannot stay down yet.

  • Lift the hips slightly at the top to engage the lower abs.
