Quads

Trap Bar Deadlift

Intermediate Barbell Compound Quads

How to do it

  1. Stand in the middle of a trap (hex) bar with feet hip-width apart.

  2. Hinge and bend your knees, grip the handles at your sides, chest up.

  3. Brace your core and back, then push the floor away until you stand tall.

  4. Lower the bar under control along the same path.

Common mistakes

  • Rounding the back off the floor.

  • Looking up or jerking the bar at the start of the pull.

Tips

  • Easier on the lower back than a conventional deadlift because the load sits beside you.

  • Log the total weight of bar plus plates.
