How to do it

  1. Set both pulleys to the highest position and attach a single handle on each side.

  2. Stand in the middle with a split stance and lean the torso about 15 degrees forward.

  3. Start with the arms open above shoulder line, elbows softly bent and fixed there.

  4. Pull both handles down and across until your hands cross in front of the upper stomach.

  5. Hold for a second squeezing the lower chest, then return slowly to a full stretch.

  6. Alternate which hand crosses on top each set so both sides get equal work.

Common mistakes

  • Turning it into a triceps movement by bending and straightening the elbows.

  • Crunching the torso down with every rep to help the handles across.

  • Stopping in front of the chest and never actually crossing over.

  • Going so heavy that the stretch position pulls you backward.

Tips

  • A great chest finisher at 15-20 reps with a 2-second hold at the cross point.

  • Keep the elbows slightly higher than the wrists so the chest stays in charge.
