Hamstrings

Good Morning

Advanced Barbell Compound Hamstrings

How to do it

  1. Rack the bar on your traps like a back squat with feet hip-width apart.

  2. Soften the knees and brace your core hard.

  3. Push your hips back while hinging your torso forward.

  4. Lower until your torso is near parallel, or as far as you can keep a flat back.

  5. Drive the hips forward to return upright without jerking.

Common mistakes

  • Loading heavy before you own the hip hinge.

  • Rounding the back as the torso lowers.

  • Bending the knees so much it becomes a squat.

Tips

  • Start with an empty bar for sets of 10-12.

  • If in doubt, use Romanian deadlifts instead, they are easier to control.
