Abs

Hollow Hold

Intermediate Bodyweight Isolation Abs

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back and press your lower back into the floor.

  2. Lift your head, shoulders and both legs slightly off the ground.

  3. Reach your arms overhead, or keep them by your thighs for an easier version.

  4. Hold the banana shape while breathing in short, steady breaths.

  5. Come down as soon as the lower back starts to lift.

Common mistakes

  • A gap opening between the lower back and the floor.

  • Keeping the legs too low before the core is strong enough.

  • Holding your breath until your face turns red.

Tips

  • Raise the legs higher to make the hold easier.

  • Start at 15-second holds and add five seconds each week.
