Cable Front Raise

Beginner Cable Isolation Front Delts

How to do it

  1. Set the pulley to the lowest position and attach a single handle or a short bar.

  2. Stand about a step in front of the machine with your back to it and the cable running past your outer thigh.

  3. Hold the handle with a straight arm in front of your thigh, torso tall, abs braced.

  4. Raise the arm straight forward to shoulder height with only a small elbow bend.

  5. Hold for a second, then lower slowly back in front of your thigh without letting the cable go slack.

Common mistakes

  • Leaning the torso back to lift the weight.

  • Bending the elbow so it turns into a half curl.

  • Standing too close so the cable goes slack at the bottom.

  • Raising overhead so the tension shifts to the traps.

Tips

  • The cable keeps tension constant, so run 12-15 reps at the end of a shoulder session.

  • Using a short bar with both hands is a steadier option.
