Abs

Dead Bug

Beginner Bodyweight Isolation Abs

How to do it

  1. Lie on your back with arms pointing at the ceiling and knees bent to 90 degrees.

  2. Press your lower back flat into the floor and keep it there the whole set.

  3. Lower your right arm overhead while straightening your left leg.

  4. Stop before your lower back lifts off the floor.

  5. Return to the start and repeat with the opposite pair.

Common mistakes

  • Letting the lower back lift as the leg extends.

  • Moving quickly and losing all control.

  • Holding your breath instead of exhaling as you extend.

Tips

  • A must-do warm-up before heavy squats and deadlifts.

  • If your back lifts, shorten how far the leg travels.
