Quads

Hack Squat

Intermediate Machine Compound Quads

How to do it

  1. Step into the machine with your shoulders under the pads and your back flat against it.

  2. Set your feet shoulder-width in the middle of the platform.

  3. Release the safety, brace your core, and lower under control.

  4. Descend until your thighs reach parallel without your hips rolling off the pad.

  5. Drive up through the heels until the knees are nearly straight.

Common mistakes

  • Feet too low so the knees shoot way past the toes.

  • Bouncing out of the bottom to get back up.

  • Letting the lower back peel off the pad at the bottom.

Tips

  • The fixed path makes it safe to push high reps close to failure.

  • Pause one second at the bottom to kill momentum.
