Side Delts
How to do it
-
Set the pulley to the lowest position and attach a single handle.
-
Stand side-on to the machine and take the handle with the far hand, cable crossing in front of you.
-
Hold the machine upright with the other hand for stability and stand tall.
-
Raise the arm out to the side to shoulder height with a fixed slight bend in the elbow.
-
Hold for a second, then lower slowly over 3 seconds while keeping tension on the cable at the bottom.
-
Finish all reps, then switch sides.
Common mistakes
-
Bending the elbow to pull, turning it into a one-arm upright row.
-
Leaning away from the machine to help the weight up.
-
Shrugging into the ears because the load is too heavy.
-
Raising well above shoulder line.
Tips
-
The cable keeps tension at the bottom, exactly where dumbbells go slack.
-
Run 12-15 reps per side and start with the weaker arm.
