Hamstrings

Stiff-Leg Deadlift

Intermediate Barbell Compound Hamstrings

How to do it

  1. Stand hip-width apart holding the bar with an overhand grip.

  2. Straighten the knees almost fully and hold that angle throughout.

  3. Lower the bar by hinging at the hips with a flat back.

  4. Descend until the bar passes your knees and the hamstrings are deeply stretched.

  5. Come back up by driving the hips forward until you are standing tall.

Common mistakes

  • Locking the knees rigidly and stressing the joint.

  • Rounding the back at the bottom because the load is too heavy.

  • Pulling with the lower back instead of the hamstrings.

Tips

  • Go lighter than your Romanian deadlift since the range is longer.

  • Lower for a three-second count to get the most out of every rep.
